People communicate in many ways, and The Communication Game is designed to help staff think about different methods of communicating and how they can improve their own communication skills to interact effectively with as many people as possible. The game use questions, scenarios and interactive activities to help players explore different ways of communicating and think about the barriers faced by people who do not communicate using normal everyday speech. It also helps players to think about the changes they can make to become a more effective communicator and provide an inclusive service to everyone, regardless of their preferred method of communication. Topics covered include: Methods of communication Barriers to effective communication Understanding communication support needs Techniques to improve communication Audience Suitable for anyone who interacts with the public. This includes but is not limited to: Nurses, doctors and allied health professionals Social care staff Receptionists and support staff Local authority staff i.e. housing association, education or leisure services"
