Summary: This is the first publication to report young children's views and experiences of smacking. How do young children define smacking? How does it feel to be smacked? Where do children usually get smacked? Why do adults smack children? These are some of the questions put to 76 five - to seven-year-olds in five primary schools across England.As part of an innovative process, the children were asked to educate a character called Splodge. The book looks at what messages children have for adults and how we can respond to their experiences and views about smacking. The results willbe fed into the Government's consultation on physical punishment.
