This book is written by South London and Maudsley Trust authors. The Social–emotional Under 5s Screening & Intervention model (SUSI) is an under 5s community mental health model, brought to life in this accessible and practical handbook. Supporting Parent-Child Relationships From Birth focuses on the emotional worlds and communications of babies and very young children in their primary caregiving relationships, giving a clear focus and guide on how to support these earliest relationships within families who have additional stressors (vulnerable families), pressures and adversity in their lives.Professionals from all backgrounds who are passionate about early intervention will find ideas and tools to use in their everyday practice, whether in health, social care or educational community settings. Therapists wishing to train and deliver the clinical model will also find this book a highly useful reference. Downloadable visuals and other useful resources are available at a dedicated website to support readers in their work with the SUSI model.
